First year as a Parish

The first year as a parish has just closed  and we wanted to remind you of what happened in our parish this year.

Since September 2014, we have started to celebrate the Holy Mass every Sunday, which has brought a consistent and regular program that has manifested itself by increasing the number of those who regularly attend our parish at each Holy Mass.

On the first Sunday of September 2014, the first General Parish Assembly took place in  which was voted by the Parish Council and the plan for the coming year was proposed. Every year, on the first Sunday in September, the Parish Assembly will take place.

The following were elected as counselors: Mr. Dinu Iuga, Mrs. Arina Lungu, Mr. Vasile Sima and Mr. George Negrea. In the Parish Assembly of September 2015, Mr. Marin Alexe and Mr. Stefan Bogdan Topala were elected in the parish council.

On December 26, 2014, on the occasion of the pastoral visit made by His Eminence Bishop Ignatie Muresanul, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Father Iosif, he was ordained in the rank of hypodeacon Mr. Vasile Sima. Mr. Vasile Sima, was proposed in this step for the special merits he had in beautifying the parish with the movable iconostasis he built, but also for the example of zeal he has with his family.

Also during this period, the Topala Family came to our parish, which had an impact in the better organization of the Parish's pew with the women we relied on before, Mr. Stefan Bogdan being a graduate of Pastoral Theology, at the University of Iasi.

Together with the counselors, we managed to form a Small Charity, having a constitution that helped us to open our bank account of the Parish.

On Friday, April 3, 2015, the Mystery of the Holy Anointing was celebrated for the first time in our parish. Present were: Father Florin Sinionca from Northampton Parish, Father Deacon Cosmin Vasilica Savu from Birmingham Parish,  The parish priest Cornel Grecu, as well as the archdeacons Vasile Sima and Corneliu Baciu. Also, the presence was special.

The celebration of the Resurrection of the Lord in 2015 was a special one with a very large presence, around 400 people, at the moment of receiving the Holy Light. Also, for the second year, all the services from the Easter period were performed.

This year we also managed to celebrate the Holy Mass on all four Saturdays when it was the commemoration of those asleep.

Since September 2014, the parish school for children has been supported, being replaced by children's catechesis, after the sermon. We hope that in September 2015, when we intend to resume the parish school for children, we will be able to offer more catechesis for those who are the future of our parish, namely, children.

On Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 July 2015, on the occasion of celebrating the patron saint of our parish, we had again the joy and blessing to have in our midst, for the third consecutive year, His Eminence Bishop Ignatie Muresanul, from the High Trust of Metropolitan Father Iosif . It is the second patron saint that we celebrate as a parish, but also a period of balance after a year of existence as a parish.

On Saturday, July 11, 2015, the Sacrament of the Holy Anointing was celebrated. Present were: His Holiness Bishop Ignatie Muresanul, Father Ciprian Mihail Badin from Preston Parish,  Father Cristian Mihail Preda (who does a period of practice in our parish before leaving for America, at the parish for which he was ordained), Father Deacon Cosmin Vasilica Savu from Birmingham Parish, Parish Father Cornel Grecu and Ipodiacons Vasile Sima and Corneliu Baciu.

On Sunday, July 12, 2015, on the occasion of the day of Saint Veronica, the patron saint of our Parish, we had the Holy Episcopal Liturgy. Present were: His Holiness Bishop Ignatius, Father Cristian Mihail Preda, Father Deacon Nicolae Stefan Palade from Birmingham Parish, Father Parish Cornel Grecu, Archdeacons Vasile Sima and Corneliu Baciu and the child Andrei Ioan Teodor Alexe who helped us at the altar , as he did all year. We had the honor to have present for the first time in our parish the Mayor of Coventry Lord Mayor Michael Hammon, who  he was accompanied by his wife. The reception and accompaniment of the mayor during the party in our parish was the responsibility of Professor Marian Alexe.

Thank you all for your contribution to the development and growth of our parish during this period. May God reward all your needs!

Father Cornel Grecu
